Mariner's Guidance

This winged star pendant is handcrafted by me using 925 silver. It is solid silver with no cheap underlying material.

I used Tolkien's Middle-Earth universe as an inspiration to come up with this original design idea.
If you ever wondered if there could be more jewellery in Middle-Earth than those iconic pieces described by Tolkien himself, you are not alone.

My inspiration when designing this winged star came from the faithful Numenoreans who fled the downfall of their island during the Akkalabeth and their descendants.

A star with wings, representing both Earendil and his wife Elwing, as the ancestors of the royal line in Numenor, Gondor and Arnor.
Moreover a specifically 7-pointed star which represents the seven ships with which Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anarion fled to Middle-Earth.

Elendil is represented by the elongated middle part of the star, which faces downward as he was both the High King of the realms in exile and their first servant. Isildur and Anarion are represented by the two shorter spikes mirroring each other as they shared the kingship of Gondor equally. The remaining parts of the star symbilize the ships of survivors in each retinue with two of them flanking Elendil as he founded Arnor with 3 ships and Isildur and Anarion founded Gondor with 2 ships each.

So this could be a common necklace of the Dunedain during later ages when they were forced into hiding to remind them of their origin, legacy and heartship.
