In Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" he describes Arwen's Evenstar at length. A symbol of what the elves first saw when they woke in times of legend, through the struggles with the Silmarils and Morgoth during the first age, their rescue through Eärendil, the parting of his sons Elrond and Elros, to their symbolic reunification in the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen throusands of years later on which Tolkien writes that Eärendil, "our beloved star", himself could be seen early in the evening, giving his blessing to his childrens' children.
